Thanks so much to all who have contributed their stories, photos, drawings, and recipes to the Families for Obama Cookbook project!
Special thanks to our amazing volunteer illustrator, Ray Kaselau. Ray's amazing artwork really helped to take this project to the "next" level, and we are so very grateful.
We are finally ready to reveal the final product and offer it for download. As always, we encourage everyone to make a donation today. Suggested donation if you download the cookbook is $10 - however, you may give more or less according to your means.

You can make your donation to the Families for Obama group page here:

The cookbook may be downloaded here:

The Nitty Gritty: In order to comply with campaign finance rules, we cannot provide printed copies of the cookbook. We had to ensure that we incurred no cost in production or distribution, and we were able to adhere to this guideline only by keeping the cookbook in an entirely electronic format. It is a catalog style PDF e-book, 117 pages long, and features photos, testimonials, drawings, and recipes from supporters across the country. This book has come together as a true representation of the eclectic and dynamic nature of our amazing grassroots community. Once you download it, you are free to do with it what you will. Keep it on your computer and flip through it as a pdf file, burn it to cd or dvd, or even have it printed and bound.
Please share the link to our Obama cookbook event page with all your friends. Encourage them to donate, and direct them to the file download. Any FfO members who are also members of other groups are encouraged to spread the word amongst the Obama community.
If you take the cookbook, PLEASE consider making a donation right now! Again, you can donate on our group page:

Thanks, as always, for your support - now, let's go win NC and Indiana!

Thresholds

Oh, how I know what it's like to be on the threshold of a dream, standing on the very edge of it, hoping that I'd have enough strength to cross the boundary, cross over to the other side, where all my hopes and desires would come to fruition.

I know how it's like to be standing there, alone and isolated, just another desolate soul seeking salvation. Oh, how I know. I know how it is to be standing on the outside, looking in, while my heart aches, and my head feels as though it's ready to… Continue

Personal Connections

As I blogged about in June..."And no matter what you do for Barack Obama- no matter how small - it is like throwing a pebble in the ocean in that you will make a wave."

Wednesday I had a phone conversation with someone in Los Angeles (note I am in the midwest)! I connected with them as part of this phone banking tool on the mybarackobama.com site for the Canvass on Saturday.

This young mom with young kids was excited and charged up for Barack Obama! We spent 30 minutes chat…

They know it- we should too

It is late but I wanted to throw this out there for those undecided friends.

Many on both sides want the same things but differ on how it is to be achieved. As a parent and wife I know the power of compromise. Compromise is what makes things supported and successful!

"I have the battle scars to prove .." is not moving us forward but keeping us back. The my way or the highway and VETO stick in Washington has got to GO. This thought p…

Sunday Sermon

Last night I was one of many who were staying up watching the campaign tally of 350,000 and 500,000 on the home page! I threw in a last $5 thinking - Come On Tally!!! It was like a game show - Will they get it? When? Who gets us over the top and will they get profiled?

Is this sane?

Our own hopes for that experience of being brought to the mountain and living history is mighty.

I think our supporters have this expectation. We are always looking for th…

Welcome, Friends!
We are so pleased to be here with you to celebrate and support our PRESUMPTIVE NOMINEE!

As Barack has so eloquently stated, "WE are the ones that we have been waiting for. WE are the change that we seek." So to kick off the summer season, we would like to encourage all of you, wherever you may live, to consider planning an FfO community service event. We are here to answer any questions you may have (familiesforobama@gmail.com), and to support you in any way - but we are not here to tell you what will work in your corner of the nation. You know best what will bring families out in force in your neck of the woods. So get out there!

We now have over 1000 members in our group on barackobama.com, with many more families active in other Obama campaign groups. We can really come together to make a difference in telling others why we feel that Barack is the best choice for our children and families, despite the recent bumps in the road. We need to set the record straight with those who are only getting the slanted emails or the media spin. Get out there and be a voice for change!

Step One: Come up with an idea for a "Families for Obama community service/visibility event" in your local area.

Step Two: Post your event to the Families for Obama group on barackobama.com, and also to any relevant local groups on barackobama.com (for instance, I would post my event to FfO, Northern VA for Obama, Virginia for Obama, etc). Be sure to call your event "Families for Obama Community Service Event" so that we are sure to notice it and note it in our emails!

Step Three: Show up, wear your gear, and HAVE FUN! Be visible! Let the kids create signs to carry as you clean a street or wear your Obama shirts and caps to serve lunch at a homeless shelter. The possibilities are endless!

Step Four:
Blog about your event on barackobama.com on the FfO group and any other groups you belong to.

Step Five: If you took photographs or video, please post them here on the FfO website!

HAVE FUN and BE VISIBLE!

Although we value everyone's input, this site is not meant for ongoing threaded discussions that are not related to FfO events and projects. Please share photographs of FfO events and members, but understand that we are not able to feature quantities of personal photographs. Thank You.
